One important aim of the "Your Code of Ethics" blog is to encourage the creation of (or improvement of) codes of ethics, oaths, or pledges for various professions, industries, and organizations that do not currently have such codes. We hope to have numerous such projects, all of which we'll list here as well as in the Categories list to the right.
1.) Our first project being worked on is the Creativity Codes Project, which develops and advocates codes appropriate for those engaged in creative pursuits, particularly in writing, art, and entertainment. A distinctive feature of these codes is that they not only emphasize both respect for freedom of expression and responsibility for the consequences of that expression, but they also recognize the latter's ultimate precedence over the former. For the most skillful creative expression is that which includes respect for its viewers/readers/audiences and concern about the potential impact - both positive and negative - of every part of that creative expression.
